Our history is the embodiment of the American Dream, which began on May 14th, 1903 when Carmine Antonio Clemente arrived at Ellis Island on the Princess Irene with his 15 year old son, Salvatore Clemente.

Carmine embarked on his fateful decision to leave his hometown in Cervinara, Italy at 45 years of age as a married man with six children. While most men during that period would have considered 45 years a full life, Carmine was just beginning to pursue his American Dream.

Carmine and Salvatore planted roots in New York State, where they secured manual labor roles in preparation for the arrival of the rest of their immediate family from Italy.

By 1915, Carmine and his sons, Salvatore and Orazio, saved enough money from working in various truck driving positions to purchase an existing sand and gravel mine at the top of Hoosick Street in Troy, New York adjoining Frear Park, to launch Clemente Bros. On this property, Carmine built a multi-family home for himself and his spouse, and for his sons and their spouses and children, which continued to serve as his residence for the remainder of his life and as an active mine until the 1960’s.

TODAY

Today, Carmine’s great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren continue to build upon his American Dream with the on-going expansion of a construction materials supplier, spanning a market from Utica, New York in the west to Springfield, Massachusetts in the east; from Lake George in the north to Westchester County in the south.

Over the last century, we have prided ourselves on providing construction materials to build America’s infrastructure and we look forward to the opportunity to continue to build and improve upon that infrastructure in the 21st century.  We will carry on our family’s tradition of hard work and attention to detail with a focus on being the very best supplier of the highest quality construction materials at competitive prices with a heightened sensitivity to our environment and community.
